Prior to YouTube, Brianna Arsem*nt was born and raised in Texas, where she grew up cheerleading and performing in musical theatre. Brianna then studied at TCU and Simmons University before working as a registered emergency room nurse at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
As a former nurse, Brianna has a particular empathy for children and geriatric populations and has demonstrated her commitment to helping others through her numerous philanthropic efforts with the Starlight Children’s Foundation, Toys For Tots and more. In a space primarily dominated by men, Brianna has quickly solidified her role as one of the internet’s premiere female streamers by challenging perceptions of women in gaming, appealing to more female gamers, earning over 14 million followers across platforms and generating over 30 million views a month. Recently, Brianna organized several gaming live streams with today’s top female gamers to benefit the Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization that provides hospital wear, entertainment, games, and deliveries to hospitalized children.
Best known for her ultra-viral, family friendly vlogs, challenges and gaming videos, Brianna first came to prominence after appearing in her husband Preston’s massively popular YouTube channel (Recently Preston was listed as YouTube’s 6th highest earning creator according to Forbes Magazine). What’s your story as an artist?
Since I was a little girl, I have always had a passion for performing. My mom is an opera singer, and my dad plays the bass, so I was shown the power of using my own musical gifts from a young age. Music has always brought me joy, whether performing in a musical, singing in a choir, or having a jam session in my car. That is why I have chosen to use the Youtube platform to share my passion and spread a good message to the listeners.
What inspired this last release?
I have built my brand around telling my viewers to be themselves and believe in themselves. I chose to be vulnerable to my audience and show them what it looks like to pursue your dream to inspire others to do the same.
Do you get inspired by other art forms?
Paintings have always been inspiring to me. I have always loved going to museums. I was not gifted with that sort of artistic eye, so I find it fascinating to study. The way artists tell an entire story on a canvas shows similarities to how musicians convey a message through a song.
Any funny anecdotes from the time you were recording or writing this?
This was the first time I have ever professionally recorded a song. I was a bit nervous, so my resolution was to blast music from my favorite musical in the recording booth to warm me up. A little dance break never hurts, right?
What’s your favorite place or environment to write?
I get a lot of energy and creativity from working in a coffee shop. I’m not sure if it’s the caffeine or the environment itself, but it is my go-to. I also worked in tandem with a fantastic songwriter to write the song.
What’s a record that shaped your creativity?
We are all huge Beatles fans in my family. Therefore, the Beatles 1 album definitely helped shape my creativity. To me, they represent innovation and pure imagination in the music space.
Who is an artist or band you look up to today?
Ariana Grande has impressive vocals. I gravitate towards her music because not only is it catchy, but I feel that I have a similar vocal range. Also, her background in musical theatre makes me feel like we’re soul sisters. I also look up to Frank Sinatra as an artist. Whenever I need to relax or focus on a task, I listen to his music.
What excites you the most about what you do ?
It is so exciting that I could positively impact someone’s life by encouraging them to pursue their passion and dreams. If I can even do that for just one person, it would all be worth it.
What does music and art mean to you?
I believe in the quote “art is an expression of the soul.” Music allows you to express yourself, beliefs and tell a story. Pursuing music gives me open communication to express myself even more than before.
