Ruby Waton, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019.

She was born May 21, 1937 in Mercer, Missouri.

Dolores L. Reichel, 94, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on June 28, 2019. She passed after a brief illness at Living Community of St. Joseph.
She was born June 20, 1925 to George Martin and Ottie (Graham) Martin in Greensburg, Kansas.
Dolores married Bob R. Reichel from Larned, Kansas on February 1. 1948. They celebrated 71 years of marriage and raised three children.

She attended Larned High School where she was the lead drum majorette. Then she attended the University of Kansas (KU). Dolores was also an accomplished pianist.

She volunteered at Heartland Hospital for 21 years where she was a member of the Heartland Auxiliary. Dolores was active with Moila Club.

She was employed as a Court Reporter in Larned, Kansas prior to moving to St. Joseph. Dolores was employed at Sears and Roebuck in the accounting Department and also worked at Joe Optican’s Jewelry Store in St. Joseph.
Most of all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing bridge, attending a monthly birthday luncheon club and attending Brookdale Church. She traveled with her husband throughout the United States and Canada with many fond memories of traveling to the Black Hills of South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, two sisters and recently, her husband.

Survivors include children; Mark Reichel, St. Joseph, Missouri, Robin Baum (Douglas), Denton, Texas, Jill Kiehl (Tim), Anacortes, Washington, five grandchildren; Justin Kiehl (Nicole), Sarah Baldwin (Josh), Chelsea Reichel, Tracy Graham (Chris), Jenny Baum; seven great-grandchildren; Bailey, Parker, Ally, Autumn, Maverick, Levi, Hannah.

Visitation with friends and family will be at 12:30 pm with a celebration of life service to follow at 1:00 pm at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory on July 3, 2019. Interment at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Susan LeAnn Heastan, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019.

She was born on August 13, 1948 to Joseph and Elsie (Wright) Morgan in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was a graduate of Lafayette High School, Class of ’67.

Susan married Gary Heastan on March 29, 1969, he survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law, Calvin Heastan.

The most important things to her were her granddaughter Morgan Lee Heastan, husband Gary, and son Brian. Survivors also include siblings; Judy, Rick, and Mike Morgan, in-laws; Terry Heastan, Larry Heastan, Cathy White, Cally Bush, mother-in-law; Mary Heastan, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vicky Lynn Felton, 50, of Atchison, KS passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019, after a long hard fought battle of cancer at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday July 2, 2019 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to help defray funeral costs and may be left in care of the funeral home. Words of comfort to the family may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Vicky was born August 12, 1968 in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Carl Joseph and Ann Lee (Norton) Tull. She was an in home day care provider. Vicky was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was all about her family, especially her grandkids and day care kids.

Vicky married Joseph Felton in 1988, he survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, a son Joseph (Ashley Henderson) Felton, Atchison, KS, two daughters Lakin (Vernon Allen), Atchison, KS, Brandy and Eric Enzbrenner, Atchison, KS, a brother, Kenny and Jill Callaway, Cummings, KS, four sisters, Tammy and Rod Anderson, Birmingham, AL, Brenda and Kevin Eichelberger, Atchison, KS, Carla and Scott Aversman, Atchison, KS, Lesley and Ron Schoenfelder, Atchison, KS eight grandchildren, Trey Allen, Brantley Enzbrenner, Ava Allen, Lenny Enzbrenner, Gavin Felton, Ace Allen, Harper Felton and Zoey Allen and twelve nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Shirley Marie Kirkendall 1950 – 2019

Shirley Marie Kirkendall, 68, of Highland, Kansas, formerly of Falls City, Nebraska, died Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care Center in St. Joseph, MO.

Shirley was born December 21, 1950, at Falls City, the daughter of George Nicholas and Nola Mae Kreutzer Kirkendall and had lived in this area nearly all of her life. She grew up near Barada, Nebraska where she attended country school, later graduating from Falls City High School in 1969. Shirley spent most of her life working as a desk clerk for motels in the area and Head Start in Falls City.

She and her daughter Tonya moved to Florida for 4 years, returning to this area and settled at Highland. Tonya survives of the home.

It was her wish to be cremated with no service held.

Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland is assisting the family.

Ila “Fern” Stone 1926 – 2019

Fern Stone, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019.

Fern was born in Forbes, Missouri on October 22, 1926 to the late James and Gladys (Nichols) Sipes. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1944. On October 5, 1946 she married Herschel F. Stone. He passed away on January 15, 2019. Fern was a data processor for Boehringer-Ingelheim. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, Fern was preceded in death by two brothers, G. Dale and James C. Sipes.

Survivors include: son, Leslie Stone D.V.M.; daughter, Shirley Auffet; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Vera Johnson.

Funeral services: 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Brian Kirk officiating. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church.

Phoebe Kay Roberts 1941 – 2019

Phoebe Kay Roberts, 78, of St Joseph, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in St Joseph.

Born January 12, 1941 in Salina, KS, daughter of Myrtle S. and Alvah R. King, into a railroad family. She graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence, MO, class of 1959 and went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. There she met her future husband, Bobby N. Roberts, marrying in 1960, and became a housewife raising three sons. In 1971, she returned to school, attending Johnson County Community College then the University of Kansas, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Education. She began her teaching career with the St. Joseph School District in 1977 at Bode Middle School and continued there until her retirement. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Phoebe was preceded in death by father, Alvah R. King, mother, Myrtle S. King.

Survivors include children, Chris Roberts of St. Joseph, Harry (Cindy) Roberts of St. Joseph, Ted (Susie) Roberts of Kansas City, MO, brother, Sam King, of Raymore, MO, grandsons, Barron Roberts, Cole Roberts, and Dawson Roberts.

The Mass of Commeration will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at Cathedral of St. Joseph. Father Jayson Becker, Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 10:15 am, Friday at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Private Inurnment will take place in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina, KS. Services under the direction of Rupp Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the St. James Building Renovation Fund.

Rudolph “Rudy” Pinzino 1935 – 2019

Rudy Pinzino, 84, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Crestview Residential and Nursing in Seneca, Kansas.

Rudy was born on June 21, 1935 in St. Joseph to Arthur Rudolph and Thelma Mae (Baldwin) Pinzino. During his years at Lafayette High School, he started working at all the bakeries, especially Beatty’s Rainbow and Wonder to help the family due to his father’s poor health.

On June 1, 1957, he married Jeanette Stuke in Seneca, Kansas. He continued to work at Wonder Bakery until he started working for Cobb Construction in the home building. He started out on his own in the home building field and worked in that occupation for several years. Rudy then bought the Old Regal Theatre Building and started disc night club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Todd Alan Pinzino.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Jeanette; sister-in-law, Virginia Sanders; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Parish Rosary will be prayed at 11:00AM, Saturday, June 29, at Horigan Chapel in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with a visitation one hour prior. Interment following at Mt. Olivet. Memorial donations may be made to Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Rosalie Pape Koppa 1923 – 2019

Rosalie (Pape) Koppa, 96, of Hiawatha, KS died June 26, 2019 at Mosiac Life Care.

Rosalie was born February 16, 1923 at Robinson, KS daughter of Warner and Laura Nichols Pape.

She attended country school at Heckler and graduated from Hiawatha High School with the Class of 1940. She attended 2 years at Highland College and taught country school at Heckler and Mt. Roy.

She married Herbert Koppa at the Pape Family home on December 21, 1945. After a busy farm life they retired and moved to Hiawatha in 1984. She was a volunteer at BCDS thrift store for many years. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Zion United Methodist Women, and had been a member of the Red Hat Society, Zion Homemakers Unit, and Asbury Club. She also enjoyed spending time at Senior Citizen, bus trips and playing cards.

She is survived by daughter-in-law Eileen Koppa, Robinson, KS, one grandson Justin (Angela) Koppa, Shawnee, KS, three great grandchildren, Gavin, Rylee, and Chloe Koppa, Shawnee, KS, and brother Warner (Charlene) Pape, of Hiawatha, KS, and dear friend Esther Miller.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert November 9, 2003, son Gene Koppa July 31, 2011, brother Willis Pape and 2 grandchildren.

Funeral Services are planned for 11 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Zion United Methodist Church northeast of Robinson. Pastor Paul Waters will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, KS.

Friends may call the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 12 noon Sunday. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorials are suggested to the ZUMC and may be sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S. 7th St. Hiawatha, KS 66434.

Vickie Lynn “Saya” Simon 1959 – 2019

Vickie Lynn “Saya” Simon, 60, of Hiawatha, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at her apartment in Hiawatha.

Vickie was born at Hutchinson, April 17, 1959, the daughter of Billie Lee and Donna Dean Walker Simon. Her family moved to Bell, California where she grew up and attended school. They later moved to Oxnard where she graduated high school. Vickie moved to Highland where she attended junior college and has since resided in Kansas, making Hiawatha her home since 2002. She worked various jobs throughout her life including being a child care provider. Her most important job in her life was raising her three daughters and grandchildren.

Vickie attended the LDS Church in Hiawatha through the years. She volunteered at the Brown County Humane Society, and the Summer Free Lunch Program.

Survivors include her companion Kenny Molt of Horton, her three daughters: Jennifer Garcia of Hiawatha, Ashley Jurgensmeier (Rob) of Altus, OK, Chelsea Thompson of Kansas City; grandchildren: Lucas, Gabriel, David, Kylie, and Khloe.

She was preceded in death her parents, and granddaughters Emma Renee and Angel Jurgensmeier. Siblings: Billy, Steven, and Janet.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Brown County Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7thSt., 66434.

A Celebration of Vickie’s life is planned for 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Cremation will follow.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon Sunday, where the family will meet from 5 until 7 that evening.
